~ Cabernet Franc Release Party ~

CASA RONDENA was the first prominent winery in New Mexico to popularize Cabernet Franc. Being our owner winemaker John Calvin’s favorite grape in the early years, the winery garnered its early reputation for excellence from Cabernet Franc! Usually a blending wine in France and California, he felt that the earthiness, the briarwood and dark fruit flavors could be coaxed from the high desert sunlight, to be a stand alone varietal. We believe that this years release, vintage 2015, is simply stunning.

Nowadays Casa Rondena Meritage is its most popular wine, being a blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. As you know John has been named best vintner, or the winery as the best winery, as voted by thousands of New Mexicans for eight years in a row. This release will no doubt solidify the reasons once again!
